Economy Swivelwheel System

SWIVELWHEEL-ECO
SWECO3.JPG

The Swivelwheel-ECO is an economy model single wheel transport system designed to transportsmall light weight (up to 500 Lbs) items behind most towing vehicles including those with Class-I and Class-II receiver hitchs. These items may be anything from lawn equipment, luggage, camping equipment, motor scooters, generators, etc. The system has a 500 pound load capacity. Like all Swivelwheel products, the Swivelwheel-ECO is shipped with a 360 degree swivel Torsion Axle Suspension.
The standard level deck height is 23" with the standard 4.80 x 8", 6-Ply, C-Rated Highway Speed Trailer Tire. There is an optional 5.70 x 8", D-Rated, 8-Ply tire available. This optional tire will raise the deck height slightly.
Be advised, that most standard trailer tires are rated for 65 mph. This includes most tires on travel trailers, fifth wheel travel trailers, cargo trailers, etc. We know that you see people traveling down the highway at 75 & 80 mph with their trailers. These people are at a higher risk of trailer damage, or injury to themselves and others in the event of a tire failure. The tires used on all Swivelwheel systems are rated at 65 mph. Traveling at higher speeds increases the risk of tire failure due to increased internal pressure and heat build up. Always keep the tires inflated as described on the tire. Low tire pressures will create more internal heat in the tire and could result in tire failure. This is true for all tires. The Swivelwheel tires are high pressure tires and incorporate a high pressure steel valve stem. If replacing the tire and wheel assembly, make sure that the valve stem are a steel high pressure stem and not a rubber valve stem.

Swivelwheel-ECO
The Swivelwheel-ECO system is shipped complete with an angle iron frame that can be mounted to the base. The frame can handle decking material of 1/2" Treated Plywood. The deck dimension is 48" Wide x 60" Long.

All systems are shipped with a Hitch Assembly to connect the Swivelwheel-ECO system to the towing vehicle. This hitch assembly will interface with any Class-III or higher receiver on the towing vehicle.

NEVER EXCEED THE HITCH WEIGHT RATING OF THE TOW VEHICLE

Below is a list of the standard receivers and their respective maximum tongue weights. A Class-I and II Receiver has 1 1/4" OD tubing. A Class-III & IV Receiver has 2 1/2" OD tubing.

Class-I Receiver = 200 Pound Tongue Weight (Not avail with systems)
Class-II Receiver = 300 Pound Tongue Weight (Not avail with systems)
Class-III Receiver = 500 Pound Tongue Weight (Used with all Swivelwheel Products)
Class-IV Receiver = 1000 Pound Tongue Weight (Used with all Swivelwheel Products)

NOTE: These are non-weight distribution system tongue weights

Every once in a while, you will find a Class-III receiver hitch with a sticker that has a 350 pound maximum tongue weight. The average is 500 pounds. The reason for the lower limit may be due to the chassis frame configuration or strength, bolted on instead of welded on receivers, vehicle manufacturer's specified maximum frame limits, etc.

Not all vehicles have the ability to have a receiver package mounted to the frame. These are usually compact or sub-compact models.

You may need to supplement the suspension of the towing vehicle. Contact your local auto dealer of suspension shop for details.

The maximum tongue weight is the amount of weight that can be applied to the ball mount on the receiver hitch. If you extent that load rearward with items such as racks that slide into the receiver hitch, you increase the tongue weight due to the leverage factor. You increased the distance between the center of the applied weight  and the rear axle on the vehicle.

The system has adjustable support mounts with a series of holes. These holes allow you to attach the system to the tow vehicle and keep the deck level by utilizing the hole pattern offered. The excess material may be removed, or you can leave it in place in case you were to move the system from vehicle to vehicle with different receiver heights.

All systems are shipped with regulation DOT lighting and safety chains. There are four welded on stake bed receivers on the front and rear side frames for tie-down positions.

All tires used with the Swivelwheel product line are high pressure tires with high pressure steel valve stems.

The following six pictures are with the Swivelwheel-ECO system with an aftermarket enclosed car top carrier system from Sears installed. There are numerous attachments that may be installed onto the base frame. This system incorporates an enclosed capsule with 20 cubic feet of space attached to the deck. The system is attached to a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV with a Class-II receiver.

The following chart shows examples of tongue weights associated with the Swivelwheel-ECO System. Empty system weight is 180 pounds. In the below sampling:
Vehicle manufacturer's set the load rating for the their vehicles. Adding a higher rated receiver to a vehicle than the manufacturer specifies will not increase your carrying capacity. It is the responsibility of the customer to assure that the weights being applied to the tow vehicle are within manufacturer's specifications and guidelines.
